Presidents’ Circle
View the 2026-2027 SchedulePresidents’ Circles
The Presidents’ Circles provide a confidential, peer-based community for current presidents of Jewish organizations and synagogues to navigate the unique opportunities and challenges of board leadership. Through thoughtful dialogue, shared learning, and meaningful relationships, participants gain practical insight, fresh perspective, and the support of fellow leaders who understand the responsibilities of the role.
Na’aleh offers two distinct Presidents’ Circles, one for synagogue presidents and one for organizational presidents, creating space for conversations tailored to the unique dynamics of each leadership role while fostering stronger collaboration across Baltimore’s Jewish community.
To encourage meaningful discussion and deep relationships, each circle is intentionally limited to 10 participants. The participation fee is $360 for those that are Supporting Organizations of Na’aleh.

With all the work that comes with leading an agency, congregation, or other Jewish communal organization, it’s easy to think, “Thanks, but I’m too busy and don’t need this anyway.” Big mistake. If you’re the lay leader in charge, trust me—you need Presidents’ Circle more than President’s Circle needs you. I have chaired three Associated agencies, numerous civic organizations, and multiple fundraising events. Participating in Presidents’ Circle made chairing the Jewish Museum Board easier, more collaborative, and more effective.
— Bob Manekin, Chair of the Board, Jewish Museum of Maryland
Participating in Na’aleh’s Presidents Circle has been an opportunity to connect with fellow synagogue presidents who understand both the challenges and the joys of lay leadership. Learning from one another’s experiences has strengthened my own leadership. I am reminded that none of us does this work alone. The relationships we have built in our group have become a meaningful source of support and shared purpose.
– Rebecca Fruman, President Beth El Congregation
