A Reflection on David Hazony-Young Zionist Voices

At the beginning of the month, a group of volunteer leaders gathered to hear from author David Hazony on his new anthology, Young Zionist Voices: A New Generation Speaks Out. This powerful collection features 31 young Jewish leaders sharing their visions for the Jewish future in the wake of October 7. Several of the contributors (Sabrina Soffer, Sadie Hilf and Maya Platek) joined the conversation and they discussed how these voices can be supported and who else should be part of the conversation. Hear from a participant about their reflection on the event.
A Reflection from Erika Schon,
In this current, disturbing time, filled with media distortions and virulent attacks on the truth regarding Israel, and the war in Gaza, Sunday morning’s discussion with passionate and brave young Zionist voices was refreshing and inspiring. Author David Hazony (Young Jewish Voices: A New Generation Speaks Out) and three 20-something year old guests featured in his latest anthology, who represent both undergrad and graduate students in prominent universities, reminded us that there is still cause for optimism. Sadie Hilf, Maya Platek and Sabrina Soffer are fearless activists and leaders with confident voices of moral clarity. Each speaker presented a sophisticated and nuanced view of the current situation, which left the audience hopeful that strong Jewish leadership is rising to counter hate and push back against the rising tide of antisemitism afflicting so many Gen Z students, especially on university campuses.
Thank you Na’aleh and the JCC for convening this exceptional panel.
